I find it so interesting, and yet completely understandable, that the concept of Valentine’s Day can often be so polarising. As a historically self-confessed anti-Valentine’s person, I have always been able to relate to people who think it’s just another capitalist, consumerist invention. But, I can also understand that a celebration of love is actually a beautiful thing. And as the years pass, and as Valentine’s Day seems to be shifting into a day where we can celebrate all different types of love, I find myself being less anti than I once was. Sure, a lot of the advertising still seems to be directed toward romantic love, but there is a definite shift towards simply showing love to anyone who brings you joy, whether that may be a romantic partner, an old friend, your children or even yourself. And whilst I don’t think we need to save showing our love for one day of the year (don’t panic – we’ve got you covered year round!) Valentine’s Day does now appeal somewhat more to me. Maybe it’s just that I’m getting older and realising that life is precious and can be short and that we should seize the day more. So why not seize the day this Valentine’s Day and spread some love?
So whoever and however you’ll be showing your love this year – whether it’s a romantic night in with your partner, buying a little gift for your favourite colleague who makes you a cup of tea every morning, celebrating Galentine’s Day with your best friend, or having a hot bath with a glass of wine and a great book – we have some wonderful ethical Valentine’s Day gifts to help! All of our products are designed, created, packaged by or benefitting adults with learning disabilities or those facing other life challenges. So every gift you buy spreads the love even further than you could ever imagine.
For That Special Someone
We all know that often how our day begins seems to set the tone for the rest of the day. So why not treat your partner or housemate to our ‘Breakfast Hamper’ this Valentine’s Day? Our lovely ‘His and Her’s’ keyring set would make a lovely addition, especially if you are planning on taking the plunge and moving in together.
Galentine’s Day
But we also know that bad days happen. Valentine’s day is no exception. So if you and your bestie are in need of a night on the sofa together, this is the perfect ‘Cosy Night In’ hamper for you! You could always add on some ridiculously soft socks to really get snug…
For those lovely little people in your life, who you love beyond measure, but also drive you slightly bonkers (don’t worry – you are not alone!)
My children often like to tell me “I love you more Mummy”, to which I always respond “That’s impossible!”. We all know that a parent’s love for their children is unrivalled, but why then can they drive us so utterly mad?! Our crafty packs from Wildroots Creative make an ideal gift for them and may just keep them quiet for a little while (which let’s face it, is the ultimate gift to yourself!).
And last, but absolutely not least – for YOU!
Light a candle, make a hot chocolate, pour in the bath salts, and relax! If you do nothing else this Valentine’s Day, I’d urge you to show yourself some love. You are unique and wonderful just the way you are, so why not just celebrate that?
